ISL 2018-19 Matchday 14
Delhi Dynamos vs Kerala Blasters
Delhi Dynamos met Kerala Blasters, with both teams looking for their second win in the tournament. Delhi took the lead through Gianni Zuiverloon, assisted by Milehic, from a well-executed corner kick. Kerala tried to come back into the game and created a few chances, but couldn’t make them count. Delhi doubled the lead in the dying minutes of the game after Chhangte was brought down in the box by Lalruatthara and Milehic converted the resulting spot kick. The Kerala Blasters’ defenders was also shown a red card for the tackle.
Mumbai City FC vs FC Goa
The two teams, from the neighbouring states, faced each other at the Mumbai Arena Stadium. From the start, Goa was in an attacking mode, showing their offensive prowess against this season’s surprise package, the Islanders. Goa finally took the lead in the 29th minute, through Edu Bedia’s shot which went into the net having deflected off Mumbai defender Subhashish Bose. Mumbai did try to come back in the game and Goa custodian Mohammed Nawa had to make quite a few saves to keep them in the match. Bose, who was a bit unlucky for the part he played in the first goal, brought down Corominas inside the box. Penalty was awarded and Corominas calmly fired into the net from the spot.
Chennaiyin FC vs Pune City FC
Chennaiyin FC played hosts to Pune City FC, with the visitors playing their first match after the break. Chennaiyin scored the first goal, taking advantage of Pune’s edginess, as CK Vineeth scored in the 57th minute. Pune, however, not only equalised, but also took a one-goal lead, as Marcelo Perreira scored two quick-fire back-to-back goals. The visitors held onto their lead to start the second half of the campaign on a high.
ATK vs Jamshedpur FC
Yuva Bharati Krirangan was where ATK faced Jamshedpur FC, with both teams looking to win, to keep their playoff hope alive. ATK started the game with a blast, after Manuel Lanazarote scored from a brilliant free-kick in the third minute. He emulated it in the 33rd minute to give ATK a 2 goal lead going into half time. Jamshedpur pulled one back in the 82nd minute, after Mario Arques’s header off a Bikash Jairu lobbed cross. ATK, however, did well to retain their lead and went onto win the first match after the international break.
Delhi Dynamos vs FC Goa
Delhi Dynamos and FC Goa played out a dull draw in the Jawarharlal Nehru Stadium, despite the gulf in class between the two teams. Goa tried to score but their desperate attempts at that were thwarted by Delhi custodian Dorronsoro and an uncharacteristically resolute defensive performance by the Delhi outfit. While Goa was disappointed, the Dynamos definitely weren’t, after taking a point from this very difficult fixture.
