ISL 2018-19 Matchday 17
FC Goa vs Kerala Blasters
FC Goa defeated Kerala Blasters three goals to nil at the Fatorda Stadium, to confirm their spot in the ISL Playoffs. The home team dominated proceedings from the start, scoring two goals in the first half, the first in the 22nd minute as Coro headed into the goal from a Brandon cross, and the second three minutes later as Coro capitalised on a defensive lapse to pass it to Edu Bedia, who just had to tap it in. Substitute Hugo Bumous scored the third for Goa in the 78th minute, taking away any hopes the team from South might have had.
NorthEast United FC vs Pune City FC
NEUFC and Pune City FC met at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium and played out a well-fought draw. Rowlin Borges scored for NEUFC at the start of the second half, which was cancelled by Adil Khan in the 69th minute, with a well-struck volley from outside the box. Not only did the equaliser come against the run of play, but NEUFC’s hopes of reclaiming the lead were also dashed, as Jose David Leudo was given the marching orders in the 89th minute. Despite dominating for a major portion of the match even after conceding, NEUFC just weren’t able to get that decisive second goal.
Bengaluru FC vs FC Goa
Bengaluru FC, despite playing with ten men for the whole of the second, scored three past FC Goa without conceding any. Juanan scored in the 49th minute to give Bengaluru the lead, Udanta doubled the lead with a thunderous strike in the 57th minute and Miku scored a curler in the 69th minute to take the game away from Goa. The win took Bengaluru to the top of the ISL table.
ATK vs Mumbai City FC
Mumbai City FC defeated ATK at the Yuva Bharati Krirangan, with Moudou Sougou scoring a hattrick. The Senegalese striker scored a brace in the first half, with goals in the 26th minute and 39th minute respectively. He then went onto score his third in the 60th minute. ATK pulled one back, seven minutes later, as Bikey rose high and headed the ball into the back of the net, but this was merely a consolation. The dominating win confirmed Mumbai’s place in the playoffs.
Chennaiyin FC vs Jamshedpur FC
Chennaiyin and Jamshedpur played out a goalless draw in the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, thus dashing any hopes Jamshedpur might have had of reaching the playoffs. Both the teams just weren’t able to conjure significant chances that could lead to a goal.
